WordPress platform is one of the most popular Blogging platforms out there. There are others but WordPress is the biggest for it is very easy to publish your content. With that are millions of plug-in’s to enhance your blog for stats, social, and commerce. If you have a small blog and just getting started it can be difficult to make money from it. One way is through affiliate marketing. But with that you have to sign up with many affiliate networks, wait to get approved, and search for a product that goes with your blogs niche. A LOT of time there. Fortunately I found a plug-in that will make it a little bit easier called VigLink. How it works is basically you just take any word in your blog post, for example Sony Playstation, link it to a site and VigLink will find the affiliate for you. Now there is a fee of course, they basically keep 25% of the affiliate profit. However it will save you a lot of time so you can concentrate on your content for your readers instead of scouring different affiliate networks for a specific url just so you can get paid. Remember, your time is worth more than money. Happy Blogging.
Here’s a new tool for your mobile device that will help you find writing ideas for your blog. It’s called Blog Compass and it’s from Google. There are some hurdles though. Currently it is only available on Android devices, I have it installed on a Samsung tablet. The other thing, if you go to the Google Play Store to try and download it and your in the US, it will say not available. Even though it is made by Google, it currently is only available in India.
Now, for the work-around 🙂 First it’s always good to use a VPN (Virtual Private Network) to protect your computer. I happen to use NordVPN just a suggestion. Once your VPN is on, choose a server in India, so it looks like your from there on your Android device. Now side-install it to your Android device by download the APK from here. Now it should be installed, as you go through the set up with your google log-in, choose India-English and you will have no problems understanding.
With Blog Compass, you’ll have everything at your fingertips. Track site views, moderate comments, and see when every post is visible on Google Search. Blog Compass will send you trending topic ideas based on your blog and your interests and show you how many views these topics are getting currently.
So, if you are having a hard time coming up with topics to write about within your niche on your blog, give this app a try. It’s a free download. If the set-up is a little confusing, feel free to reach out to me and I will help you out. If you are in India you are all set. As you go through out your day you will come up with ideas for your blogs. One very important thing to do is to have a notebook by your side to take notes of your ideas. They could be blog post ideas, Domain Name ideas or maybe you want to change your theme. You will have many ideas and, unfortunately you will forget them if you don’t write them down, we all get distracted whether it’s with traffic, kids, work, family, something comes up and our attention goes in another direction. Then, when things do calm down and we go to write on our blog, some of those ideas get lost in the shuffle of life.
Yes, there are apps on our phones now where we can type in notes, or even speak our thoughts into our smart watches like apple Watch or Android watches to record notes, which can come in handy and very useful especially if we are driving in some intense traffic (Always drive safely please), but at the end of the day we still would have to swipe to find the notes app on the phone to get to the notes. By physically writing them down in a notebook we remember more. Also, a physical notebook won’t run out of battery life either. Moleskine notebooks are the best for taking notes on the go. They’re not big and wide like a legal pad, but still provide plenty of space to write your thoughts on a distraction free page.
There are also many covers you can purchase from leather to ones that hold pens and business cards. The most important thing though is that they hold are your ideas. Hopefully this helps in your daily blogging. How do you keep track of your ideas? Let us know in the comments below.
If you’re a blogger who also sells things online, it’s important to have everything on one domain. If your e-commerce system consists of an Etsy or Ebay shop, you can link to your etsy or ebay shop but then the customer is leaving your site. People get distracted, it happens. Especially when Etsy, ebay, or Amazon have sponsored recommendation below your product. An easy way to avoid all that is to embed your product on your own website through a platform like Shopify. They make it very easy to upload pictures of your products, write some content, and then embed the code to your WordPress page on your own site, so the customer has a clean, simple experience, as well as, professional looking for you.

Domain Names can be tricky, there are so many out there right now that are taken, some are not even being used, just an Ad based place holder, these are usually held by domain name squatters, people looking to cash in on a name. But there are ways around this, and more and more people are getting creative by combining words, phrases and even using locations. If your blog or business name is taken already, you don’t have to change your blog or business name just add a word to it or the location you are at (city, town, state, etc.). It will save you a lot of money and time. Besides, nowadays people don’t always type the actually domain name into their browser. They just type what they are looking for in the address bar and their browser goes to the default search engines, Google, Bing, Etc. So it is more important to have the title of your page, keywords, and meta descriptions updated regularly to stay on top of the search engines search results. With sites like Wealthy Affiliate you can get all the training you need to do proper SEO your self. However, it does take time and if your running a business, you may not have a lot of time to learn SEO and do it your self. In that case its best to delegate out and hire someone else with the knowledge to do it for you. Either, in-house on your payroll, which can get expensive or a freelancer like my self. You can contact me here. There are also plenty of College students that are looking for Internships that would love to help for the experience, mind you though they are internships and just temporary, but another option. What is your unique domain name? Share it in the comments below, it will also help you with backlinks, another SEO strategy. Best of luck.
A Sitemap is very important to have if you want Google and Bing to rank your blog. There are numerous ways you can implement a Site Map into your website.
What is a Sitemap? It is a file where you can list the web pages of your site to tell Google and other search engines about the organization of your site content. Search engine web crawlers, or bots, read this file to more intelligently crawl your site.
There are many third-party tools to help you out in creating a Sitemap without all the coding. If you are using WordPress, there is a plug-in that works very well and free, however there is a donate button to help the developer if you can. This Plug-in for WordPress can be downloaded then uploaded from your plug-in page on your Admin section of your site. Once uploaded and activated, mouse over the Settings section in your sidebar and click XML-Sitemap. Here you can adjust the settings as you wish or leave the defaults. Any questions, feel free to leave in the comments or ask me here.
